Writing Articles for Associated Content

Published by rusty at 10:27 pm under make money online Edit This

Most Internet writers know about Associated Content, but if you are new to online writing you will benefit from this info. Associated Content is a content-buying website where you can sell your articles, virtually on any subject. You can choose whether to sell them to AC exclusively or non-exclusively; the latter means that you will be able to sell or post them elsewhere.

AC offers upfront payments and a bonus for pageviews when your published articles are being read. Upfront payments currently average $4-5 per article. Articles should be at least 400 words in order to be considered for payment. Pageview bonus gets paid once a month; it is not much, only $1.50 per 1,000 views, but it adds up if you have many articles.

You need to note that people who aren’t living in the U.S are only eligible for PPV bonuses, not upfront payments.

I wrote a few articles for AC, then pretty much quit. I think about going back and then I read the forums, and I know it’s not worth it. There’s a new thread started by a member with two and half million page views and over 3,000 articles, and she just quit because she can’t stand the site any more, for very much the same reasons, I decided not to go back. If you have the patience for changing standards of acceptance, site glitches, delayed payments, and lack of input from the staff, I guess the site is fine. Not for me, though, and apparently not for a lot of seasoned writers who have left AC.

Thanks for the great comment catana! Yes, I forgot about their US only policy, and I apologize. In order to receive upfront payments from AC, writers need to be US residents. Otherwise, they are only eligible for pageview bonuses.

I know that AC has its faults. I only write for them on occasion, when I have a good idea for an article that I think will interest them and bring some page views as well. I still thought AC was worth mentioning as an opportunity to earn money by writing.

I tried the AC thing and it really wasn’t worth it to me. I have written a few articles for Suite101 as well and you get way more editor feedback on those… sometimes too much. Ha… but they don’t pay as well… Though, it’s good exposure I guess.

I agree that AC is not the easiest way to earn, you will not make a fortune with them. But I’ve made some money there, and yesterday my $13 pageview bonus arrived - not much, but hey, it’s residual income. :)

I have a few articles I just pulled off Triond, and I may revise them a bit and put them on AC as nonexclusive. I agree that AC does pay, but I usually don’t have patience for the hassles. My four lonely articles keep getting page views, so I might as well put myself in a position to collect on that some day.

That’s a great payment, Rusty. Congrats.
